Marietta Daily Journal)
Daniell Middle School eighth-grader Jahnvi Bhagat is the second best speller in Georgia.
Jahnvi, 13, and Tritt Elementary School fifth-grader Sophie Fang competed against 18 other Georgia students Friday in the Georgia Association of Educators State Spelling Bee.
Jahvni battled throughout 23 rounds Friday afternoon until she spelled vorlage with an f instead of a v clearing the way for Abhiram Kapaganty of Gwinnett County to capture the state title when he correctly spelled wedel.
Fang, 10, competed until the ninth round and was ousted by the world reniform.
Abhiram, 11, will represent Georgia in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., from May 28 to June 3. In addition to the all-expenses-paid trip to the national championship, he received $1,000 and other gifts.
